Harper Douglas Max is a technology studio building infrastructure for modern travel publishing.
What we do
We build tools and data systems for travel publishers, newsrooms, and platforms. Our work spans CMS infrastructure, search technology, structured travel data, and editorial workflows. Everything we ship is developed and tested first on Dolcevia.com — our own travel platform, operating since 2019 — which means we are not building in the abstract. We are building for problems we have already encountered ourselves.
We work with open-source, EU-hosted infrastructure wherever possible. Meilisearch for search, Hetzner for hosting. We believe in building things that last, on foundations that do not lock you in.
Founded by Elisabeth Bertrand
Elisabeth founded HDM after years working in digital publishing, content management, and web development. The company grew from a direct observation: the tools available to small and mid-size travel publishers were either too expensive, too complex, or built for a completely different kind of media operation — one with a team of fifty and a budget to match.
HDM exists to close that gap. We build for the editorial teams that do serious work with small teams, and for the platforms that are trying to build something durable in an industry that rewards depth over volume.
How we work
We run our own infrastructure on dedicated servers in Germany and do not depend on third-party SaaS for core systems. When we build something, we host it, maintain it, and stand behind it. We believe slow travel, rigorous publishing, and sustainable tech choices are connected ideas — and that the companies building for that world deserve better tools than they currently have.
